Rewiring & Wiring Repair

Old wiring, replaced properly — not patched.

Aging wiring is the root cause behind a lot of problems people try to solve one outlet at a time. IES traces the real condition of your circuits and gives you a clear scope: what has to be replaced now, what can wait, and what it costs.

What We Do

Whole-home, partial, and targeted rewiring

Not every property needs a full rewire. Some need three circuits replaced and a proper ground. We scope it honestly, phase it when that makes sense for your budget, and work to keep the property livable while it happens.

01

Whole-Home Rewiring

Full replacement of branch circuits, devices, and boxes in older homes, sequenced to limit disruption.

02

Partial & Room-by-Room Rewiring

Kitchens, baths, basements, and additions rewired to current code without touching what's already sound.

03

Knob-and-Tube & Aluminum Wiring

Replacement or approved remediation of legacy wiring that insurers and inspectors flag.

04

Circuit Fault Diagnosis

Locating shorts, opens, and intermittent faults with a methodical approach instead of trial and error.

05

Dedicated & Added Circuits

New circuits for appliances, workshops, offices, and equipment that shouldn't share a line.

06

Code & Inspection Readiness

Grounding, AFCI/GFCI protection, box fill, and labeling brought up to current requirements.

Know The Signs

Signs your wiring needs work

  • Two-prong outlets, or three-prong outlets with no real ground
  • Cloth-insulated, knob-and-tube, or aluminum branch wiring
  • Outlets or switch plates that are warm, discolored, or crackle
  • Frequently tripping breakers on the same circuits
  • Extension cords and power strips doing permanent work
  • An insurance carrier or home inspector flagged the wiring
Safety first Warm outlets, burning smells, or sparking are not wait-and-see items. Stop using the circuit and call us — safety issues get priority scheduling.

Frequently Asked

Rewiring — common questions

Do you have to tear open all my walls to rewire?

Not usually all of them. We use existing pathways, attics, crawlspaces, and targeted access points wherever possible, and we tell you up front where openings will be needed and who patches them.

Can rewiring be done in phases?

Often, yes. We prioritize by safety and by what unlocks the rest of the work, then group the remainder into phases you can schedule as budget allows.

Does aluminum wiring have to be replaced entirely?

Not always. Depending on condition and the connections involved, approved remediation methods may be acceptable. We inspect first and explain both options with the trade-offs.

How disruptive is a whole-home rewire?

There will be days with power off in parts of the house. We plan the sequence with you in advance so you know which areas are affected and when.
